After finishing a course on “urban beekeeping” with the organization: “Belgrade beekeeping association”; we entered an entirely new discipline in this region. Like many worlds capitals, our beehives are not located only on beautiful fields and on the smaller mountains, but in the very center of Belgrade. We created our first apiary in 2018 in Orasac, but now we decided to take it a step further. We were fascinated with bees and their part in helping the environment. We wished to enter their world and started coexisting with them. Given that we are from Belgrade, the only way was to bring them to our neighborhood.
After finishing a course on “urban beekeeping” with the organization: “Belgrade beekeeping society,”; we entered an entirely new discipline in this region. Like many worlds capitals, our beehives are not located only on beautiful fields and on the smaller mountains, but in the very center of Belgrade. Of course, the path to success is filled with thorns, especially at the beginning. Still, with the help of our older colleagues from Belgrade beekeeping society, of which we are members, we constantly work to educate ourselves and others further. Every day we try to spread our knowledge about urban beekeeping and bees in general.
Dario and David Mardesic, two brothers, started the company and were soon joined by their friend Ivan Kalicanin. We educated ourselves at the faculty of agriculture, where we acquired basic knowledge about honey production. However, the world of bees is very complex and exciting, so our thirst for knowledge only grows.
Besides the unique flavor and texture of our products, we also paid attention to design and packaging. Our jars are a perfect present and recognizable decoration on every shelf.
Besides the modern approach to beekeeping, we are engaged in activism. During the event “save the bees,” we set up many beehives on the rooftops of apartment buildings and companies. We formed a first urban apiary with about 30 beehives at the region of Belgrade’s port, where the first Botanical Garden was in the past. We distributed domestic honey to the most needed neighbors during the pandemic, planted honeydew herbs at urban places, and so on.
Our products are subject to rigorous analysis, which are under the European Union standards and HACCP standards. You can be sure that only the best quality honey will be coming to your dining table.
